This is a cute easy short storyDespite Joe being hurt for most of the story it wasn't a difficult or angsty readCas loves Joe he just doesn't really know it yet not really but as with a lot of things in life not until you almost lose it do you realize what you haveA uick little story for an in between heavier books kind of snack

Cas and Joe have been together for six months and they live together It is Joe who suggested living together Joe who offers commitment and Joe who says “I love you” For his part Cas wonders why they have to spoil a good thing with commitment and only agrees to “living together because I couldn’t see a way of continuing to see Joe if I didn’t” Joe even knows Cas isn’t sure if he loves Joe and “there’s a funny ache in my stomach and I want to cry” Oh Joe When Joe is involved in a an accident and the doctors believe he is going to die well things become clearer for Cas don’t they Except is it too late? Cas is smacked with the “should haves” but at this point does it do any good? He’s at the bedside with “if only” as his company The POV of Joe is interesting mainly because he’s comatose and it seems realistic if that makes sense While I liked Joe very much I was a little cooler towards Cas I just keep wondering what would have happened with them if Joe hadn’t nearly died would Cas ever have realized what he had? That thought aside Cas makes great strides in admitting what he wants and then helps Joe make connections he had been greatly missing So it is romantic

I liked itA fluffy casual mm romance It doesn’t say or do anything very uncommon and the plot won’t surprise you with a thousand twists and turns It doesn’t connect all the dots and sometimes you feel like you’ve been cheated out of reading things that were interesting Joe getting his boss kicked out for example But if fluff and a feeling of fuzzy warmth are your thing you'll probably like itOne thing I really liked were the small details that Kristen inserts here and there – like the characters eating chocolate that’s been dunked in black coffee They're fun little touches that are nice to keep in mindAnother thing I enjoyed the novella isn’t focused on sexual desire It’s not that the two characters are not interested in each other they are or that they don’t get in bed together they do but it isn’t used as the driving motor of their relationship And it’s entirely unapologetic about the lack of sexy tidbits which is frankly refreshingOverall? A book that fans of fluffy romantic casual stories might enjoy reading

This was such a beautiful book about love and self discovery It is about what defines a good relationship and then how to keep one once you find it The love between the two main characters was just so beautiful and real You could really identify with Cas and his journey to understand if he really was feeling love Then when Joe is injured you can understand his frustration with his recovery and the pain he is inOverall the plot and characterization is amazing my only complaint was while I felt the connection to the characters individually I wanted to feel their connection to each other There was an amazing build of sexual tension and frustration and when it finally came to a head there was nothing really to give me a feeling of satisfaction I was looking for kissing touching or some other physical representation of their love This was a sweet and beautiful book and I would recommend it to any lover of the mm genre

Working it Out is an interesting read Once I got used to the author’s style; I enjoyed the story of Cas coming to terms with his feelings for Joe As with many stories in the genre we get to see both Cas and Joe’s points of view in alternating fashion Both have a second person feel They are talking to you the reader not just randomly telling a story It took some time to settle for me but once it did I appreciated the personal feel of the storytellingRead More
