4 Stars One must pay dearly for immortality One has to die several times while still alive Friedrich Nietzsche I said it before and I will say it again – this author is brilliant She never ceases to amaze me with her originality and with her words Reading one of her books feels like coming home for me and I’m so glad I decided to give this series a try This series is not only about a forbidden romance it’s also a series about sacrifice forgiveness and redemption “Reignite” is the second installment in “Extinguish” series and picks up right where the first installment ends Now Lucifer is free and he can’t do whatever he wants While he didn’t forget Serah and he still loves her Serah now a mortal she can’t remember her past or Luce Despite the fact that he has free will he doesn’t want to do anything or to fight Fighting is senseless without his Serah He spends his days watching her how she adjusts to life as a mortal loving from afar He can’t hear her thoughts any but he still feels that strong connection with her “He hadn't escaped the pit at all maybe this was his new Hell forever to be teased and taunted by her existence close but still so far away” Serah doesn’t remember who she is if she has family or friends or even her own name She tries to make a life for herself and she eventually finds a job She senses Luce and somehow she knows his face even if she believes she never saw him before He consumes her thoughts and she dreams of him longing for him desires him even if she doesn’t know why I loved this one Even if it was a plot driven story the romance between these two characters was simply beautiful At times they made my heart ache but I loved their few moments together and the strong connection between them which was so palpable However their relationship development wasn’t exactly what I wanted I really wanted to see of them togetherWe get to be in Luce’s head than in the previous book and I liked this fact very much It goes without saying I found his character appealing than Serah’s and dynamic His human side in this installment was highlighted in this installment He is than he was he feels He learns what is love but also what is compassion loyalty sympathy empathy and kindness Overall the story was past paced but there were parts that were rushed Also everything was resolved very uickly in the end Anyway I was satisfied with the ending It wasn’t what I expected not the typical HEA but I was happy with it All in all this was a great conclusion to Serah and Luce’s forbidden story If you want something different with fascinating characters and a beautiful love story I highly recommend this one

35 starsAfter the events and ending in book 1 I couldn’t dive into this second book fast enough Even though Extinguish was written as a standalone and meant to be left open ended based on reader interpretation I’m grateful the author decided to write another book Because when it comes to romance I need my uestions answered and my ending clearly defined and as I fell hard and fast for these characters in book 1 getting my closure and finding out what exactly happened to them after the showdown in Extinguish was absolutely necessary With that being said I did feel like this book was lacking compared to the first Things were wrapped up in pretty bows too fast and with one of the main characters literally embodying the fallen archangel it was hard to believe that all loose ends were tied up nicely without much conflict Nevertheless I enjoyed it for the most part as it was a fast paced read with the return of all the beloved characters from the first book as well as new onesJust like my review for the first book I have very few things to say about the plot as the story here builds up from what happened in Extinguish I liked that there were Lucifer POV scenes and I got to delve deeper into his thoughts and feelings I still find the idea of giving the Devil himself a humane side fascinating – it definitely made his character seem a lot dynamic than most male leads I’ve read about As for the romance it was a bit weak and honestly there weren’t that many scenes that focused on the main characters’ relationship development because this book was plot orientated but the parts where the romance was showcased it was beautiful and it only strengthened my belief that despite how forbidden or unnatural the romance was these two belonged with each otherI think my biggest problem is that because this book is fast paced and plot oriented than ever it’s hard to have time jumps I’m talking years and years and have them convincingly weaved into the story While reading it felt like maybe a month or two passed instead of years which is why I thought the story was a little all over the place and underdeveloped compared to the first But despite that I’m thankful that Lucifer and Serah did get a second book and was happy with the final ending the author providedAs a whole this 2 book duet ranks a solid 4 stars and is well worth the read They’re attention grabbing gripping from the get go and the world building is excellent not to mention each and every one of the characters were fascinating Reignite is the 2nd and final book in this 2 book paranormal forbidden romance series It’s not a standalone and must be read after Extinguish PS If you didn't know BOTH books are free right now at least on they are ;#1 Extinguish Reignite

contain spoilers if you haven’t read book #1Not the seuel I expected for the Magical love story from previous book nevertheless the ending was still epic This story focused primarily on Lucifer and his struggle rather than the romance itself All the while he was in the pit he held a grudge against the angels and wanted to destroy them and rule heaven Now when he escaped hell and created a chaos he neither feels the burning desire to destroy heaven and earth nor does he wants to kill his brother for casting him to hell All that he feels now is loneliness there is nowhere for him to go or has anyone to call as a friend but one thing is constant in his misery his fluttering heart which beats for someone else someone who doesn’t remember him someone who was a collateral damage of his selfish deeds a beautiful angel once who saw goodness in him is now fallen “How is it fair that she lost her Grace for loving someone incapable of Love?” I cherished all the bits and pieces of Luce and Serah’s time together it was still palpable Loved the way author brought the dept to Lucifer’s character not just she barred his emotions but we get to see his past his time before in hell Writing again was remarkable; dialogues were great and loved the touch of dark humour Though I didn’t love it as much as first book this still was a great read because of Lucifer’s POV There’s something about the male POV which grabs my attention and bring out so many witty snide remarks and this one had lots of them

4 45 cleoma serrulata STARS He once envied the humans because they were given the Earth but looking at her he wondered if maybe Paradise was to be found in a person and not a place LUCE Welcome to the uniue and extremely imaginative world of JM Darhower This is her version of the Creation process and how it affected Lucifer Michael Adam and Eve leading to the Fall of Man and let me just say that it was simply INCREDIBLEThis is a story of love and sacrifice joy and grief temptation and guilt envy and redemptionThis is the story of the grey between all the black and white always ignored always forgottenSerah wakes up with no memory of who she is or where she has came from But there is one thing that she remembers crystal clear A set of dark blue eyes with a heated look so warm familiar so welcome No name no identity no sense of direction but his eyes were as familiar as looking at her own reflection SERAH Now that he is not trapped inside Hell Luce is free to roam the Earth and do whatever he wants but his priorities have changed now He has lost his will to fight and is not interested in the war that he started anyAll he wants to do is listen to the heartbeat of a certain mortal woman his Angel from afar His heart keeps bringing him to the Chorizon Elementary School where he last held her where he took her wings to save her from a lifetime in Hell with him He had no purpose for following her other than driving himself crazy Maybe he still got his rocks off on suffering because seeing her and not being able to talk to her or be with her was undoubtedly torture of the worst kind LUCE All he can do now is follow her around merely watching her and taking in her flowery fragrant Serah’s memories may have been wiped clean but Luce remembers every single moment they shared together and living without her now is tortureWhat Luce doesn’t know is that Serah can see him and importantly somewhat remembers him When one day she notices him following her again Luce is shocked to see recognition in her beautiful eyes It was a dream or a fcking nightmare punishment from his Father He hadn't escaped the pit at all Maybe this was his new ell forever to be teased and taunted by her existence close but still so far away LUCE With every passing day Serah and Luce try to build up what they once shared from ground zero Luce is changing the darkness inside him letting Serah’s light to shine in and while Serah is remembering and starting to feel the suffocating weight on her heart once I see you pop up out of nowhere I find you standing in my hallway or lurking outside of my work and my heart starts to race but it isn't because I'm afraidIt races because it knows youIt skips a beat because it knows you're thereMy heart knows you even though the rest of me doesn't SERAH With the war threatening to resurface and Luce’s past catching up with him once again Luce is struggling to decide what to do next Will he get back to being the Prince of Darkness and Doom or will he decide to change for Serah and take his rightful place next to his Father again?Sacrifices will be made and conseuences will be facedWill love be enough to outweigh the evil? I'd take an eternity in your Hell before I took a single second in my Heaven without you SERAH PS Why do they have to be so breathtakingly hot in every goddamn PNR book? I feel weird swooning over them Especially in this one because you know it's Satan who we're talking about here

What do you do when you get amnesia and can't find anyone who knows who you areused to be? According to this book you are likely to be unerringly nice to absolutely everyone and live a long life not doing much of anything just biding your time until you die Isn't that a heartwarming story? This duology was based on an interesting concept but the plot was just weak Luckily this author does get better later on so I wouldn't write her off just pass on this duology or at least this second book anyways the first was pretty good

Yep I did put it on my hero hall of fame shelf I'm still amazed that author managed to turn a world's most famous villain into on of the most amazing heroes ever WARNING A LITTLE SPOILERAlthough I'm not religious myself my favorite part was about heaven where it was said that it's not a place created for you by someone You creat it yourself while living and when you die you go to a place a memory in life where you felt happiest I never heard it described like thatCan't wait to read the next book by Darhower

Extinguish by JM Darhower was one of my favorite books of 2013 It was a uniue and dark tale of forbidden love between the most unlikely beings Darhower created this world of angels demons and yes even Satan himself in which I became complely entrenched in I loved every second of itI read Extinguish last year when it was released as a standalone At the time the author hadn't had plans for a seuel but then Luce kept talking to her If you haven't read Extinguish suffiice it to say that everything is not tied up in a neat little bow typically I'm not a reader who needs everything nice and tidy I'm okay with open ended but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want of Serah and Luce's story When it was announced that JM Darhower would be writing a seuel I freaked out We're talking DEFON LEVEL 5 fangirl freak out Reignite instantly became one of my most anticipated reads NOTE If you have not read Extinguish Read My Review you should probably stop reading here I don't want you to be spoiled and it's hard to talk about Reignite without spoiling Extinguish Trust me It's really good If she doesn't save him? Michael asked What if he makes the wrong decision? Then everyone will lose He responded Especially them Reignite did not disappoint My heart ached for all of the characters Yes even Michael I wanted things to go back to where they were before things went way south I wanted everyone to be happy Reignite picks up soon after the dramatic ending of ExtinguishLuce is such a dynamic and fascinating character He is sin incarnate He is manipulative He's all bad things but one angel transformed his heart and tipped his emotional axis He once felt everything all the pain of those suffering in hell but now he feels numb with heartache He is a truly a tortured archangel Every sordid detail every single mistake every second of heartache had been embedded in his brain as crisp and clear as the moment it happened The chaos he'd been accustomed to the past six thousand years—the cries for mercy the screams of agonizing pain that constantly tried to force itself out of the confinement within his skull—was replaced with something else absolute silence For the first time he's had to deal with something so mortal so human—a broken heart The love of his existence has no idea who he is and he isn't really sure how to process these feelings Blackness overtook the castle the sky above a mass of dark clouds lightning flashing as rain pelted the earth around it incited by his bitter rage Luce's eyes stung He once told Serah he could cry but that he didn't After all what would Satan have to cry about? Nothing But nobody ever said he was honest No matter how hard he fought it back tears fell from his eyes the bitter salty wetness staining his cheeks fueling his aggression How sad is that? He is mourning Satan is in mourning He tries to keep his distance from Serah to let her live her life But he can'tI think the transformation of Lucifer is best exemplified in the game of Go Fish he plays with Serah and the little girl she babysits next door That whole scene was so adorable and funny The Luce we met in Extinguish would have no time to play with little children He probably would have hurt the little out of impatience and frustration The Go Fish scene made me love him even and endeared me to him Does you have any ueens? she asked going again Luce didn't have to look at his hand Go fish Nicki drew a card from the pile Give me your kings Luce said LOLLike Serah once watched humans from afar Luce now watches her at a distance His desire to keep tabs on her is heightened when a malevolent Dominion starts preying on Serah Despite being an angel Don is not innocent nor is he pure He has dark intentions and Luce doesn't like it one bitThe moments between Serah and Luce were electrifying and I found myself sizzling with anticipation I wanted her to remember to have a small flash a millisecond of memory Would his presence uncover a buried memory? There was one scene in particular where I thought I would self combust with all of the tensionYou're dreaming he said uietly I'm nothing than a figment of your imaginationI DIE SERIOUSLY WHAT IN THE FREAKING CRAP IS THIS? AHHHHHWith all of the heavenly descriptions and biblical characters at the heart of Reignite is a simple love story a forbidden one Reignite is about two people and their fight for one another Luce and Serah's love for one another transcends good and evil It's that very thing that made Extinguish and Reignite so addictive and so compellingI loved the visual imagery and descriptions Darhower infused into this story Darhower uses scripture from Genesis and tells Satan's version of The Fall Darhower used that moment to show how jealous Luce had become of man and how he manipulated the situation to his advantageI have to say that the epilogue was uite emotionally satisfying While I didn't cry I came very close In the end I cared so deeply for Serah and Luce I wanted them to be happy but my greed little self longed for them to be happy together I'm still in awe of how Darhower managed to make Satan the hero of these books He now is one of my favorite tortured heroes Her ability to twist what you think you know about The Serpent and turn him into someone magnetic and completely likable—lovable even—is impressiveInitially I was inclined to give this book 4 stars but the I let the story sink in as I wrote this review the I realized I loved it So I'm bumping it up to 45 starsbecause I can Now go forth and read about Luce and Serah I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review Read my Review of Extinguish Book #1 ★ Check out my list of UPCOMING BOOK RELEASESFind of my reviews other bookish things here✥ Read this review on the blog✥ My blog Reading Books Like a Boss✥ Like on Facebook✥ Follow on Twitter✥ Subscribe by Email
