I've first heard about this book awhile back while I was in highschool I only heard positive comments from the older students that had to read ''Le chant du Co'' in one of their French courses I was therefore looking forward to read this book during the upcoming year However we didn't get the chance to read this book and I've promised myself that I would eventually read it A few years later I borrowed this book from a good friend of mine and I am so thankfull that I did I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite books that I have read so far For all of you Frenchies out there a must read if you haven't had the chance yet Arlette Cousture is such an outstanding writer Her writing has the outstanding power to make you feel all kinds of emotions while being so attached to Emilie's journey during the 80's and the 90's Such an amazing book

Of all the books I have read in my entire life this is still my favorite of course it's because it's so close to my roots but the story and the writing is awesomeDe tous les livres ue j'ai lu ce sera toujours mon préféré bien sur a cause de mes racines mais l'histoire et l'écriture sont parfaites

I loved the story Being as my French is shall we say a bit 'rusty' it took me a whiel to get through it but it was worth it For some reason the last 100 pages or so went really fast for me

I had to read this for french class and holy crap I STRUGGLED through each page FDC has got to be one of the most boring books in the entire world Arlette if you’re reading this I’m sorry but your book was truly god awful

I uite liked this book I began to think it was meant for a teen audience but by the end I could see that it was adult I definitely became drawn into the characters and their lives and am thinking of joining my library so that I can continue the series I almost wanted to continue with the french series but have a number of books waiting and some that I can't wait to get into As always while reading in French my french improved although the author was using some ancient words from the period I found the development of the province of uebec very interesting as wall I could relate to being a teacher with a strong commitment and to stopping to have a family

35 stars rounded downThe story is very interesting and engaging but the sad ending even if I knew it was coming was such a bummer Especially since it would have been entirely avoidable if only the two protagonists had been better at talking to each other All passion and no communication; my least favorite kind of romance couple I am however really looking forward to the second volume the story of Blanche
