This was an enjoyable book The first half of the book felt like listening to all the old Folk Tales I heard as a child like how to make stone soup and how the boy cleverly outsmarted the rigged truefalse test So the first half felt very familiar yet nostalgic The author was establishing how smart and clever the main character is Then the story really becomes it's own I was suprised in the end by how much I really enjoyed it in it's own right not just for nostalgic reasons I think it'd be perfect for young readers who want a bit of fantasy adventure but aren't uite up to the level of Harry Potter yet There are 12 book in the series I think I'll have to continue reading the rest of them

  4. Heather Heather says:

Fine but nothing exceptional I think perhaps it lost something in translation because all of the narrative and dialogue felt very stiff and unconvincing Also I couldn't really get into the fantasy world and didn't feel like everything was explained Still I suppose the seuels will probably improve upon the story Hopefully they are less stiff at least

  5. Hannah Belyea Hannah Belyea says:

Amos is a boy with a uick mind and even uick feet and when he is chosen to be the Mask Wearer by a mysterious mermaid he begins a journey that will decide the fate of the land on where gods and monsters seek to destroy the innocent and conuer all life Perro begins a short but charming series that will keep young fantasy fans enthralled What sort of powers will Amos find as he continues this dangerous uest?

  6. Ivana Ivana says:

Well I knew it was kind of a childish book but I needed something to read for a day so I can complete my challenge D Anyway this was very rushed story no dialogs no explanations of some things yeah kinda like a bed time story to tell you kid which isn't bad but I prefer other books anyway I will surely recommend it to young readers though because Amos is an interesting character

  7. Amy Amy says:

FXL heard about this on C'Est La Vie This author was touted as the Canadian JK Rowling It was written in French but I'm reading the English version I think the writing is a bit thin not a lot of richness to the character development Sort of like this is the cliff notes version Definitely disappointing with that sort of build up

  8. Bethany Bethany says:

Stilted narration a lot of telling with very little showing and thin character development Any interesting fantasy elements are overshadowed by the writing Perhaps it lost something in translation?

  9. Sofy Sofy says:

Not recommended It's engrossing enough if you're 12 but not interesting for older readers At least not in my opinion
