This is a very captivating sci-fi fantasy story that will keep you reading until you have finished the last page. The story is one of a kind. You will want to read more. But alas the story will be over.

Williams’ sci-fi fantasy story has many intriguing twists and turns which will easily captivate your attention from the beginning. Williams portrays an exciting and adventurous story of alien invasion in a vivid and convincing way.

In addition, the characters are drawn with amazing credibility, depth, and integrity. If you’re looking for an action packed, sci-fi fantasy adventure that’s packed with courage, bravery and heroism that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, this book is for you.

Further, the story had every element a good story should have. This amazing story has an exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s also an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that will make you feel like you are right in the middle of the story in another worldly place, far away from the here and now.

There is something very magical about reading fantasy fiction like this. It helps us imagine worlds that are quite removed from our own and some of the possibilities outside our realm of the normal of here and now. And this story did exactly that for me.

This is the first book in the series. I can’t wait to see what Andrew Williams comes up next. I’m sure he’s creating it as we speak.

Arcadia’s Children: Samantha’s Revenge is a promising series debut, challenging and addictive. Throughout the novel readers will get the sense they are in the hands of an author who has built a deep world of wonder. Another part of Williams’ success here is how he is able to casually world-build by giving us an immersive experience where the magic of the technology we encounter, so very alien to what we know, is lived and thus explained by character actions. It may be, for some, overwhelming at first but soon the tone of the novel brings readers around facilitated by a prose that is easy and quick.

I was in the mood for a different sci-fic this weekend so picked up this book by Andrew R Williams after a friend recommended it to me. This is my first book by this author and I really liked the style.

Arcadia's Children: Samantha's revenge's blurb had me intrigued. The story and writing kept me hooked from the word go!

It was an exciting, interesting and otherworldly tale. If you are looking for a few hours of binge reading, this book is just right for you. Interesting storyline, advanced droids, secret ops and characters we have only probably imagined and whatnot. I particularly loved Tarmy.

What are you waiting for? Grab the book and read to know more!

Don't get the wrong idea about this futuristic sci-fi book. Williams (Author) constructs a story about a shape-shifter and AI humanoid who has vengeance. The potential for destruction of the world is always a risk in these novels. Afterall, AI is often programmed one way and acts in another way. It's a battle between the heroes and villains. Those characters fighting through the worlds with leaders who have no qualms at refusing justice for mayhem.

Drawn into a world that is is a stretch to my imagination and acceptance since sci-fi usually is not my flavor of reading. But I'm attending a sci-fi book group and it was suggested I sample Andrew Williams series to become more at ease with developing situations, shapeshifters, sorcery and action.
This is not the first book in the series in fact, you may want to flash back to Arcadia's Children to embrace the full plot and energy behind the author convincingly, skillfully, master novel.

Absorbing, challenging – and addictive! A very fine Sci-Fi novel

British author Andrew R. Williams has written an impressive array of books, from fantasy fiction, such as this ongoing series ARCADIA’S CHILDREN, to architectural information books – DOMESTIC BUILDING SURVEYS, PRACTICAL GUIDE TO ALTERATIONS AND EXTENSIONS, and A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO SINGLE STOREY HOUSE EXTENSIONS. He is a chartered surveyor.

The intricacies of Andrew’s attention to detail make this novel as accessible, and even credible, as the initial book in this series – ARCADIA’S CHILDREN: SAMANTHA’S REVENGE. Andrew knows the realm of imagination and uses his mastery of the science fiction genre in a manner that few authors can match. Wildly inventive concepts and description of events and forms become clearly relatable in his hands. A hint of why Andrew’s bizarre world works so well is evident in his offering ‘facts’ about Arcadian archaeology before the story’s onset. For instance, Arcadia is the third planet in the Salus System. As it is in a Goldilocks Zone, the planet is an Earth type, and The Wreck - Although badly damaged, The Wreck is still being subjected to close scrutiny. It has also become a major tourist attraction. Since teleportation systems were installed, over two million tourists per annum visit The Wreck. When entering a strange realm such preparation makes the journey more credible.

As an overview of where this series will take us, Andrew opens this book with the following – ‘After changing shape several times, the ball eventually turned into a huge face. It floated alongside the air-car. This time, time instead of sending him mental message, the face spoke out aloud and the whole air-car vibrated with its intensity. “If you are foolish enough to renege on your contract, you will be severely punished. For your sake, I hope you wouldn’t do such a thing.” When Tarmy made no attempt to respond, the face turned and pressed itself against the millipede-free window. A moment later, Tarmy felt the fat slug entering his mind, the sign that the face was attempting to use its powers to obtain his response by other means. But as the slug dug deeper, Samantha’s cover stories began springing out of the corners of his mind. Instead of obtaining Tarmy’s agreement, all that the face saw was a burning army transporter surrounded by bodies. Undeterred, the face continued its assault. Samantha had anticipated that Tarmy might come up against an adept, so the mental images of death and destruction flowed unchecked. After failing to break Tarmy’s defenses, the face removed the slug and tried reason. “You can’t win, Mr. Tarleton, so why don’t you do yourself a favour and cooperate? It will be better for you in the long run. Now, where is the miniature pulse drive engine?” Tarmy realized why the millipedes hadn’t been allowed to attack. It was obvious that the Great Ones were hoping to retrieve the engine. When Tarmy didn’t respond, the face said, “I am prepared to overlook your desertion if you agree to tell us where the engine is and also honour your contract by showing us how to convert the engine into a bomb.’ Simply superb writing!

Keen characterizations create near visible images and the plot of the story is full of imaginative excursions and strange events. Exciting and beautifully realized, this is one of the better Sci-Fi fantasy novels of the day. Recommended.

I'm a big fan of sci-fi fantasies and a lover of the Star Wars franchise. Arcadia is brought to life by the author with its incredible details and imagery, plus its wonderfully-written dialogues. The very first page is action-packed and the pace continues throughout. You'll find all sorts of colorful characters and otherworldly creatures that reside in Mr William's mind. I can only imagine how difficult it is to map out a sci-fi book and remain convincing, let alone to imagine how it looks like and bring life to it using its unique characters. For me, this genre is always a long shot. You either love it or not, and in this world created by the author, you'll surely be mesmerized if you already adore sci-fi fantasy.

A well-crafted sci-fi fantasy that’s left open for exciting sequels!

Author Andrew R. Williams weaves an outstanding and noteworthy tale of sci-fi fantasy with intriguing twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning. The author paints an exciting and adventurous story of alien invasion in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and integrity. If you’re looking for an action packed, sci-fi fantasy adventure that’s packed to the rafters with courage, bravery and heroism, this book has it all…and more.

The story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I really look for in a good book.

There is something very magical about reading fantasy fiction. It speaks to the very thread of my imagination, jolting it to life and transporting it on an exhilarating journey. This story did exactly that, leaving me captivated as I was introduced to a new world and mesmerizing characters. It appears to be the author’s debut novel in this genre and I just have to say that it was a book that fans of the YA and Fantasy genre will not be disappointed in. I truly believe that the author has the potential to weave even more magic for future readers of this series.

The book description gives a preview: ‘After changing shape several times, the ball eventually turned into a huge face. It floated alongside the air-car. This time instead of sending him mental message, the face spoke out aloud and the whole air-car vibrated with its intensity. “If you are foolish enough to renege on your contract, you will be severely punished. For your sake, I hope you wouldn’t do such a thing.”

When Tarmy made no attempt to respond, the face turned and pressed itself against the millipede-free window.

Now, where is the miniature pulse drive engine?”

Tarmy realized why the millipedes hadn’t been allowed to attack. It was obvious that the Great Ones were hoping to retrieve the engine. When Tarmy didn’t respond, the face said, “I am prepared to overlook your desertion if you agree to tell us where the engine is and also honour your contract by showing us how to convert the engine into a bomb.”

Now, if that’s not enough to whet your appetite, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens, you’ll just have to turn the pages for yourself! However, I will say it was well worth the read. It’s my first time reading this author and I must say I was very impressed.

Captivating and commendable, this work had me immersed from the beginning. The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There are plenty of attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a truly spellbinding journey!

It’s one of those books that comes along occasionally that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader.

If this volume is anything to go by, I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Andrew R. Williams in the future. This has all the hallmarks of making a great series. I would definitely recommend this book and would love to see it adapted for the Silver Screen. I honestly think it would make a fantastic movie or TV series. A well-deserved five stars.
