I really enjoyed the audio book version of this story and thought the narrator had a very good voice and reading style The style of this book reminded me a bit of Stephen King s book It where he goes back in time to the children s childhoods for pieces of the story which help to explain how the events in the book all fit together in the end.Alatorre s main character, Doug, is an ordinary man with a good job and a lovely family He adores his wife and small daughter and enjoys spending time with I really enjoyed the audio book version of this story and thought the narrator had a very good voice and reading style The style of this book reminded me a bit of Stephen King s book It where he goes back in time to the children s childhoods for pieces of the story which help to explain how the events in the book all fit together in the end.Alatorre s main character, Doug, is an ordinary man with a good job and a lovely family He adores his wife and small daughter and enjoys spending time with them and going on family holidays The story starts with an unexpected and nearly tragic incident in the parking lot at a wine farm which appears initially to be frightening, but not completely out of the ordinary accidents and tragedies do happen in life When Doug starts to realise that this latest incident is another in a seeming series of similar events, he starts to wonder what is happening to his family Is this normal or is thereto these near tragedies than meets the eye Doug sets out to investigate the matter and learnabout why these incidents are occurring His investigation leads him to a priest at his local Catholic Church and other interesting characters who delve into the world of spirituality and the occult Something out there doesn t like his attempted intervention though and is determined to step up its efforts to achieve its goals Very creepy and yet written with a sense of possibility that makes it all theeerie, Dan Alatorre conveys his story in a way that really plays on the readers emotions and imagination.I rated this book five out of five stars

I chose to read and review this supernatural thriller with a twist by Dan Alatorre because I am a great fan of his work The last book I read, Poggibonsi nearly had me splitting my sides, I laughed so much There is always such a strong human element to his writing, which adds to the magic. From the brilliant opening chapter, I knew this book would be good The unusual chapter arrangement threw me at first, but I soon realised how well it gradually ramped up the tension.Parts of the story were I chose to read and review this supernatural thriller with a twist by Dan Alatorre because I am a great fan of his work The last book I read, Poggibonsi nearly had me splitting my sides, I laughed so much There is always such a strong human element to his writing, which adds to the magic. From the brilliant opening chapter, I knew this book would be good The unusual chapter arrangement threw me at first, but I soon realised how well it gradually ramped up the tension.Parts of the story were traumatic, enforcing the deep and dark theme of this book, despite being about a happy family unit The main characters, Doug, Mallory and their daughter Sophie are portrayed so well, you feel you have known them all for years, and makes what happens to them all theterrifying and exciting to read. The supernatural element was handled well, really down to earth stuff that will raise the hair on the back of your neck time and again.Near the end of the book was another shocking chapter, and then the unbelievably terrifying footage of being caught in a storm So well depicted, I felt soaked to the skin and scared to death as the lightning rent the air.Not many books have me cheering at the end, but this one did, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good thriller

Not About The ParanormalIf anything, I d say this story is mostly about Christian religious beliefs with regard to good vs evil protagonist is a lapsed Catholic with a melange of supernatural divine elements and entities thrown in Voudou, relic veneration, etc It s difficult to explain without droppingspoilers, so I ll leave it at that I was hoping for paranormal with horror elements, but this wasn t it Also, I was not frightened whilst reading, so this is not even close to Stephen Ki Not About The ParanormalIf anything, I d say this story is mostly about Christian religious beliefs with regard to good vs evil protagonist is a lapsed Catholic with a melange of supernatural divine elements and entities thrown in Voudou, relic veneration, etc It s difficult to explain without droppingspoilers, so I ll leave it at that I was hoping for paranormal with horror elements, but this wasn t it Also, I was not frightened whilst reading, so this is not even close to Stephen King s The Shining or even Doctor Sleep Not to mention Clive Barker s books For about 1 3 of the book, I kept reading, because I thought the author was working up to the frightening bits What made me skim read were reiterations of backstory during in the flashback chapters

This was the second book I read by Dan Alatorre and let me say it was legit A man and his family tend to be surrounded by tragedies But not normal tragedies that we all tend to face one time or another These are tragedies that happen around the same time every year Desperate for answers, our main character, Doug, will stop at nothing until he gets them.An Angel on Her Shoulder is a beautifully written story that keeps you turning the pages It does go back and forth between the present day a This was the second book I read by Dan Alatorre and let me say it was legit A man and his family tend to be surrounded by tragedies But not normal tragedies that we all tend to face one time or another These are tragedies that happen around the same time every year Desperate for answers, our main character, Doug, will stop at nothing until he gets them.An Angel on Her Shoulder is a beautifully written story that keeps you turning the pages It does go back and forth between the present day and Doug s childhood a few times, which at first, made it confusing because there were no dates letting you know that we ve traveled to the past You ve have to read a little bit to realize it However, later on, it didn t bother me as much I suppose I had to get used to it Eventually, the way the childhood chapters were told were so smooth, my mind immediately clicked to the scene at hand Especially chapter thirty three. The tension in the story was slow building, but not in a bad way at all It was actually a very good way to tell the story It leaves you with wantingand then slams you with tension every so often until you reach the final conclusion. The characters were extremely likeable and realistic, especially Doug He s just a normal husband, a normal dad, that wants to do right by his family and take care of them by any means necessary Even if it means stepping way out of his comfort zone in search of questions for a confusing situation. The only thing I would have suggest would be to erase the final sentence on the last page I won t say what it was, but I feel the inclusion of the final sentence diminishes the wow factor.Overall, this book is definitely worth the read Forbook reviews, visit
