I won this book in a GoodReads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. And I am so, so sorry This novel was tender and hopeful and emotional and sweet. It also justwasn t a great book The author chose to write it in third person omniscient, which resulted in a lot of unannounced head hopping That, coupled with a writing style I can only describe as being abrupt , left me confused and disoriented for the first third of the book, before my brain finally caught on to how to read it prop I won this book in a GoodReads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. And I am so, so sorry This novel was tender and hopeful and emotional and sweet. It also justwasn t a great book The author chose to write it in third person omniscient, which resulted in a lot of unannounced head hopping That, coupled with a writing style I can only describe as being abrupt , left me confused and disoriented for the first third of the book, before my brain finally caught on to how to read it properly Most books I read are in first person, or third person limited, or have some kind of break in the text announcing scene transitions or POV changes This allows for a lot less confusion on the reader s part, and even a healthy amount limitation on the writer The fact that the narration informed me of all of a character s roles and qualities instead of letting me discover them through observation and character interaction resulted in a feeling of detachment so that by the end of the book I could only keep track of a few characters names and exactly what relationship they had with the protagonistwhich is a real shame because I loved what I saw of the family dynamic and really wished I could get to know these people as people, rather than names and traits and emotional backstories The story telling rule show, don t tell comes to mind here There were also some plot holes, villains that were incredibly stupid not sure if that was intentional , and some recurring phrases that could have been replaced such as the many people centering each other, and taking in each other s scents There was also a lot of hugging So much hugging And let the record show that I am a very huggy personThis book wasn t terrible, but it didn t really feel like a finished product to me More like a later draft Ultimately however, my biggest complaint is with Tyler.Look, I don t hate the guy I know that he means well But the man kept doing something that made me angryAnd just how does he look at me Like you re his No, Tyler Alexis is not yours Not until she decides she is.If a man loves a woman, he will respect her verbally stated boundaries Kissing Alexis repeatedly, despite her explicit wishes no matter WHAT your history together is or HOW she responds in the heat of the moment is not respecting those boundaries Alexis was trying to figure out her own heart, and exciting her sexually against her conscious wishes does NOT help her do that it only serves to cloud her judgment Such actions are emotionally manipulative and boarder on sexual harassment. If I were in Lexi s shoes I would have gotten sick of his messing with my mind like that and put as much distance between us as I could. Now, I know Tyler didn t mean any harm And I know that ultimately he s a good man But that doesn t make what he was doing ok.That being said, I did like the book s heart It had a lovely message, loving characters, TOO MANY FRIGGIN HUGS, and a hopeful look toward Eternity All very warm and nice If it weren t for the above problems I would probably have ended the book sobbing into my pillow I highly encourage the author if she reads this to keep at it Warm, good, lovely things are always worth writing about 3All that being said, I cannot pretend that I loved this book It wasn t truly terrible either though so I won t be giving it a one star rating.2.5 stars rounded up to 3 out of 5

This is one of those books that was such a pleasant surprise It had action, romance, the importance of family, and a Christian twist that can be hard to find in a good romance The angel in the book made me question times I ve lost loved ones and things I ve experience through those losses It reassured me that what I thought had happened might not have been my imagination but rather someone caring for me from the other side.As for the characters, Tyler was probably my favorite He was successf This is one of those books that was such a pleasant surprise It had action, romance, the importance of family, and a Christian twist that can be hard to find in a good romance The angel in the book made me question times I ve lost loved ones and things I ve experience through those losses It reassured me that what I thought had happened might not have been my imagination but rather someone caring for me from the other side.As for the characters, Tyler was probably my favorite He was successful yet down to earth, in love with Lexi but willing to give her the time she needed, and also in love with her daughter He was always a gentleman even when he wantedfrom her Always.I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance and likes characters that are believable with all their human frailties Overall, when I put this book down I felt good, and isn t that how a good romance should make you feel This was the first book I ve read by this author but definitely won t be the last

I must admit, the cover is what first caught my eye We see so many these days that are blurred, out of focus, and surprisingly has little to do with the storylines The choice of fonts and the clean beautifully designed cover was just a taste of what was yet to come I found the characters intriguing and well developed I love that McKay started the book in a kind of a child shall lead them manner I couldn t help but think Lani and Evelyn were closer in Evelyn s death than in life It was I must admit, the cover is what first caught my eye We see so many these days that are blurred, out of focus, and surprisingly has little to do with the storylines The choice of fonts and the clean beautifully designed cover was just a taste of what was yet to come I found the characters intriguing and well developed I love that McKay started the book in a kind of a child shall lead them manner I couldn t help but think Lani and Evelyn were closer in Evelyn s death than in life It was bitter sweet The book was well written and held my complete attention If you like books with clean romance, mystery, and tailspin s that keep you guessing this is a read you won t want to miss From page one you see G ds timing, mercy, forgiveness, and grace and most importantly His love which transcends all..even string theory Can t wait to get started on the next book
