I actually developed a phobia of this book because I was so very certain that I couldn t love the main character as much as I did in the last book BUT I DID, I DID LOVE HER JUST AS MUCH The author faked me out repeatedly, kudos to you author, kudos to you I think Juliann Whicker is a great author in general, I feel like the book was well balanced and interesting and the characters maintained the unholy love I have for them all.

Book 2 in the House of Slide series is, in short, amazing We come into the story shortly after Dariana has gotten her soul back and becomes normal if there can be a normal in this story again She has to learn to live a completely different life than she had been, and I love the character development we get to witness as she deals with everything thrown her way The continuation of the world we first entered into in Hotblood book 1 is completely unique from anything you ve read before and Book 2 in the House of Slide series is, in short, amazing We come into the story shortly after Dariana has gotten her soul back and becomes normal if there can be a normal in this story again She has to learn to live a completely different life than she had been, and I love the character development we get to witness as she deals with everything thrown her way The continuation of the world we first entered into in Hotblood book 1 is completely unique from anything you ve read before and the complexity I am amazed how the author is able to strand everything together to make it into a coherent, engaging story Delving into the world of the Hotbloods, Cools, Wilds, and Hybrids is an amazing journey The author s incredible imagination feeds the story and grows it into this fascinating creation In Hybrid we are reintroduced to our favorite characters from Hotblood, Dariana and Lewis oh Lewis, how I love him , plus we getof Satan and Grim Yay and double Yay Haven t read Hotblood yet Go get to it now Then come back for this one Interview with Juliann Whicker

Reading Hybrid is a whole new introduction to Juliann Whicker s paranormal world The young protagonist, Darianna Sanders, spent the first novel and the last ten years of her life separated from her soul, which had been stolen by her brother who died before revealing why Dari gave up the strong, lethal Hotblood soul she had been carrying in order to be reunited with her own Cool Wild hybrid soul Childlike and pure from its years of disembodiment, it is unclear whether Dari s soul is suited f Reading Hybrid is a whole new introduction to Juliann Whicker s paranormal world The young protagonist, Darianna Sanders, spent the first novel and the last ten years of her life separated from her soul, which had been stolen by her brother who died before revealing why Dari gave up the strong, lethal Hotblood soul she had been carrying in order to be reunited with her own Cool Wild hybrid soul Childlike and pure from its years of disembodiment, it is unclear whether Dari s soul is suited for the dark and dangerous world Dari now inhabits. As demons continue to encroach the material realm, and Dari s grandfather, head of the House of Slide, makes his move to co opt Dari and her new soul for his own mysterious purposes, Dari must put aside her fears that she might lose control of the opposing forces that battle inside her in order to accept Lewis as her soulmate. Is that summary exciting enough The book is evenso Cows fly, unstable hybrids play with knives, lust consumes, and death cheatedthan once.As with the first book, Juliann shows her strength in her characters, who fill her unique world with vibrant color It s hard not to get distracted by Dari s uncles, Grim taking over from Satan in this installment as Most Interesting Relative Ever Smoke, Snowy, and Ash are back, Ash faced with the choice of oblivion over reality in a heart breaking sub plot But, for me, the most enthralling character is the one who never shows up, never explains himself Dari s brother, Devlin, of course Even asis revealed about his plans and motivations, he remains ever enigmatic, and maddeningly dead.If you haven t tried this series, start with Hotblood It s free to borrow onIt won t be long before you re running back for Hybrid Full Disclosure Juliann Whicker is my friend and writing Team Leader It s thanks to her I finish anything I can t possibly know how much I d like the book if I didn t know her When I find the worm hole to the alternate universes, I will find Evil Jamie who never knew Evil Juliann and ask her what she thought

Hotbloods, Wilds, Cools and Hybrids What are they They are the product of the amazing imagination of Juliann Whicker as she tumbles us into Hybrid, the second book in her paranormal series, House of Slide, where magic rules and evil is getting closer and closer to the Earth realm The politics of the magical beings are at odds, will their lack of cohesiveness aid the demons in their quest to take over the world Dariana is back, and so is her soul, only now she owns its Cool Hybrid self again Hotbloods, Wilds, Cools and Hybrids What are they They are the product of the amazing imagination of Juliann Whicker as she tumbles us into Hybrid, the second book in her paranormal series, House of Slide, where magic rules and evil is getting closer and closer to the Earth realm The politics of the magical beings are at odds, will their lack of cohesiveness aid the demons in their quest to take over the world Dariana is back, and so is her soul, only now she owns its Cool Hybrid self again But in the dark world she lives in now, her true soul may be out of place and in constant danger Dariana is to be protected at all costs, but she is coming into her own, maturing and wants to control her own destiny Those of her own House have plans for her, too will she become a puppet or a pawn in the deadly games of magical power Does she follow duty or desire Is Lewis truly her soulmate If he accepts the House challenge for her hand, can he win Action, romance and magic come to life at the speed of light as each scene unfolds.Sometimes book two of a series gets caught between books one and three as a filler, but not Hybrid, I think Juliann Whicker pulled out all of the stops and dug deep to enhance each character, detail each scene and neatly tucked humor, danger and romance into every nook and cranny Each element of this tale unravels into a chaotic tangle, but Ms Whicker reels it all in and sets us up for book three, setting herself a high bar to beat Great writing, great reading 4.5 Stars Series House of Slide Book 2Publication Date November 29, 2012Publisher Juliann WhickerISBN 1479326216Genre YA Fantasy ParanormalPrint Length 374 pagesAvailable fromBarnes NobleReviewed for

This is the best 2nd book in a series that I ve read in a long, long time Most 2nd books read like tweeners, bridges to the third book, but Hybrid builds on and surpasses Hotblood, which was a great beginning itself The first book uses POV wonderfully, is faithful to the main character s limited but developing perspective, and introduces a unique and original world of magic a wonderful break from fangs, fur, wings of various sorts , etc in which four magical races live among us engaging in This is the best 2nd book in a series that I ve read in a long, long time Most 2nd books read like tweeners, bridges to the third book, but Hybrid builds on and surpasses Hotblood, which was a great beginning itself The first book uses POV wonderfully, is faithful to the main character s limited but developing perspective, and introduces a unique and original world of magic a wonderful break from fangs, fur, wings of various sorts , etc in which four magical races live among us engaging in highly complicated politics Hybrid picks up right where Hotblood leaves off, and things just get better from there The characters introduced in Hotblood continue to grow in depth and inner conflict, the secret world of netherbloods and their politics gets richer andcomplex as readers continue to find out important clues to the various interweaving plots For a dark urban YA fantasy, Hybrid, like Hotblood, brings in some of the best elements of a mystery and a romance into a fast moving, but never shallow, adventure Speaking of the romance, the relationships presented in Hybrid are among the most realistic in all the YA I ve read Dariana and Lewis are rich, conflicted, but intensely passionate characters circling each other in a wonderful tango of desire, uncertainty, misplaced sacrifice, and growing love an respect an amazing improvement to the typical girl sees cute boy and falls hopelessly and irrevocably in love relationship A Must Read

I would like to thank Juliann Whicker for providing me with a free EBook in exchange for an honest review.First of all I have to say that I love the world that Juliann Whicker has created in her House of Slide books it is well developed and complex, and it truly draws me in as a reader And I really thought Hybrid was a great follow up to Hotblood.I really liked the storyline of this book It picks up very soon after where Hotblood left off Great first chapter It gives some excellent backgrou I would like to thank Juliann Whicker for providing me with a free EBook in exchange for an honest review.First of all I have to say that I love the world that Juliann Whicker has created in her House of Slide books it is well developed and complex, and it truly draws me in as a reader And I really thought Hybrid was a great follow up to Hotblood.I really liked the storyline of this book It picks up very soon after where Hotblood left off Great first chapter It gives some excellent background information, and after the twist in the last book, it is weird and unsettling at times to have to get to know Dariana and her abilities again She is different, and I m not always comfortable with this new version of her But then again, neither is she. There are a few places in the book that could have usedcareful, concise explanations or a clarification of details, because things got hairy for me as the reader in a couple of spots view spoiler Also, I was a little disappointed that the trainer just up and disappeared when Lewis stepped back into the picture After our introduction to him in the first chapter, I expected him to pop up in other places with tests and random training The fact that it didn t happen was OK ultimately, but with such a set up, it seemed to follow that he would actually be a part of this book hide spoiler In a couple of places in this book, Dariana got a little tooBella I hate to say that as a negative, butI felt like Dari was dangerously close to completely losing her identity in Lewis in this book waythan in the first one I m sure that it is a result of her lack of world experience and learning, and hopefully this will go away in the next one, butin places I was fed up with her, which didn t happen for me in the first book.I liked the direction that the author chose to take the story I liked the fact that enough questions were answered to make me feel like this book was complete, yet it does make me look ahead into the next book and the answers toquestions with anticipation
