I belong to a writing group, and had the pleasure of meeting Denise when she made a presentation to our group, very inspirational, she certainly sounded like she knew what she was talking about Now I took the plunge, and decided to take a look at a few of her works Whilst looking through the many titles she had for sale on , one, well two caught my eye, the title in itself just made me want to read it I must remember that if I ever publish anything to make sure it has a zippy little tit I belong to a writing group, and had the pleasure of meeting Denise when she made a presentation to our group, very inspirational, she certainly sounded like she knew what she was talking about Now I took the plunge, and decided to take a look at a few of her works Whilst looking through the many titles she had for sale on , one, well two caught my eye, the title in itself just made me want to read it I must remember that if I ever publish anything to make sure it has a zippy little title like that.Anyways, I am here to review the book, well novella I think would be thecorrect term A nice lively paced little number about a priest who specialises in exorcisms He is called down to his home county in Ireland to exorcise a young man I won t say too muchabout the storyline, as I am not a spoiler type of person.Though I can say I was very impressed with Denises style of writing, very engaging to the reader, completely drawing them in, definitely a page turning type of excitement to the whole thing, shame it was so short, I do think there is so muchthat could be developed from this The whole tongue in cheekedness of it too, with a near on running commentary in first person from the main character with his own personal thoughts on his fellow priests carrying out the exorcism with him, using some rather unpriestly terms for them I suppose if you are a seasoned vet like Father Jack, the main character, you are going to have a rather hardened focus, especially in regard to your likes and dislikes of your fellow professionals Another thing that I laughed out loud at when reading this was in the middle of the exorcism, the possessed souls mother walks into the room against the wishes of the exorcising priests, they tell her to get out, and she comes out with something like she was a midwife and this is nothing compared to some of the stuff she s seen hahaha ,Denise, this could be an opening chapter to something spectacular, I really hope you do that, you ve definitely got it when it comes to horror writing, please keep it going, and here s to a very rosy and bright future with your dark thoughts on paper

When I added Father Jack and his minions to my soon to be released Newgrange, I had no idea how interesting a character he could be I don t think Father Jack has finished his work just yet and may pop up in the near future to battledemons and monsters from other realms.

I like a little dark humor and Christ on a bike, there s some humor in this short story So you ve got a group of priests going for an exorcism There s a couple of kinda gross parts Those definitely held my attention Anyways, this is like a teaser into another world that I have hardly thought about Sure, I know about exorcisms, but this also doubled into portals It s actually pretty interesting Even though it was short, I found myself wonderingabout the MC s life Theres a brief hist I like a little dark humor and Christ on a bike, there s some humor in this short story So you ve got a group of priests going for an exorcism There s a couple of kinda gross parts Those definitely held my attention Anyways, this is like a teaser into another world that I have hardly thought about Sure, I know about exorcisms, but this also doubled into portals It s actually pretty interesting Even though it was short, I found myself wonderingabout the MC s life Theres a brief history of his sister being possessed, so you have just enough background on him to leave you curious about the rest of his life I recommend this story to people who like humor and exorcisms

Somehow, goodreads has been deleting some of my reviews Reposting An entertaining journey into the life of a priest who s dedicated his life to ridding the world of demons It blends religion with fantastical elements The protagonist swears profusely and has a knack for sarcasm His dark humour and love for his sister make him a strong, relatable character.
