I did not, by any stretch of the imagination, think I d ever had even an inkling of sympathy for Gruuk, the slaver who owned Amalia and her family This book shocked me a little with how much I actually felt for him It turns out that while his moral compass is a little skewed, he had a genuine soft spot for Amalia before things turned bad And Maheva, in an entirely different way.Just so we re clear, there s no HEA in this book Amalia s mother s unfortunate accident was mentioned in book 1, so I did not, by any stretch of the imagination, think I d ever had even an inkling of sympathy for Gruuk, the slaver who owned Amalia and her family This book shocked me a little with how much I actually felt for him It turns out that while his moral compass is a little skewed, he had a genuine soft spot for Amalia before things turned bad And Maheva, in an entirely different way.Just so we re clear, there s no HEA in this book Amalia s mother s unfortunate accident was mentioned in book 1, so her fate was known Maheva, as a slave, has little chance of finding happiness with the ups and downs of her existence Amalia, as we know, finds her special someones down the line.BUT, OH, THE SETUP OF THINGS Amalia s father Maheva s relationship with Gruuk Gruuk s careful planning for things down the line Sevina and her sisters Prophecies and uncertain futures. As always, I m immensely smitten with this series and the worlds created SO SMITTEN Kelly Reading the Paranormal

This is a fascinating look at the life of Amalia, her mother Sevina, and her grandmother Maheva on board Gruuk s ship, before Amalia escapes. We see a side of Gruuk that I would never have guessed at, he really cared for, and protected these women despite it being against Guldian beliefs.Life as a slave isn t easy, especially with forced matings and children being sold.Parts of the story had me in tears, some made me smile, and others had me on the edge of my seat they were so tense. The ending se This is a fascinating look at the life of Amalia, her mother Sevina, and her grandmother Maheva on board Gruuk s ship, before Amalia escapes. The ending set up Amalia s escapeand had a few surprises I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
