Sarah Monzon s sopho novel is even better than her debut, and I love The Isaac Project an awful lot So, if I m saying that Finders Keepers is even better, you probably just need to go ahead and put it on your must read ASAP list.Summer and Trent captured me from their first scene together their banter, their sparks a plenty , their stories Their banter kept me smiling Their sparks kept me fanning Their stories kept me intrigued In fact, this may be one of the first Christian fictio Sarah Monzon s sopho novel is even better than her debut, and I love The Isaac Project an awful lot So, if I m saying that Finders Keepers is even better, you probably just need to go ahead and put it on your must read ASAP list.Summer and Trent captured me from their first scene together their banter, their sparks a plenty , their stories Their banter kept me smiling Their sparks kept me fanning Their stories kept me intrigued In fact, this may be one of the first Christian fiction books I ve read where neither of the protagonists were following Jesus wholeheartedly at the book s onset I m trying to think of another right now, I m drawing a blank They both have pasts that bleed into the present, and I LOVE the dimension that their flaws and scars added to the book and to their characters Sarah did an excellent job of addressing their pasts realistically but not explicitly, and she treated their present stories with grace and discretion. One of my absolute favorite scenes in the book is between Trent s mom and Summer, and I sorta held my breath when I first began reading it because it had the potential to get preachy Y all know how I hate stopping my story for a sermon lol But I really should have known better by now Sarah added in bits of humor A rainbow had thrown up on Anita s Bible and a lot of tender grace and wrote a scene that touched me deeply and moved the story forward The conversation between Anita and Summer is so well done and much needed how can you possibly relate to God as Father when your own father has abused or abandoned you I am fortunate to have a daddy who has always represented Jesus well to me and to others, but my heart is tender toward those who have a different story and I think this book is a great starting point for conversations that will bring healing. The dual timeline between present day and 1699 was another of my favorite elements of Finders Keepers Isabella and Captain Montoya are also full of great romantical tension, and the whole 1699 timeline has this added element of suspense along with what s already embedded in the plot because you know that in the present day Summer and Trent are looking for the wreckage of Montoya s ship So you spend the whole story with bated breath, hoping against hope that maybe it s not the same ship or that the ship is stolen by someone else or any other number of scenarios that would have Isabella and Montoya living happily ever after And of course I m not going to tell you how it plays out you just have to read it for yourself and experience the same torture y angst that I had to endure haha But it s SO WORTH IT Even just for this one particular kiss alone Whew.Finders Keepers is the perfect book to kick off your summer reading The descriptions are beautifully crafted, and both story threads will have you dreaming of sandy beaches and ocean breezes Sarah Monzon s characters are layered and real, and they feel like people I would want as friends in real life Humor dots every chapter, and grace coats each word Breathtaking scenery and breath stealing romance will have you wishing for SCUBA gear even if you re reading this safely on dry land simply because you need another source of oxygen This sopho novel is a new favorite and one I will be re reading for years to come Read my full review at Reading Is My SuperPower

The whole series is well told and expertly set up, with the stories of the Carrington brothers offset by historical stories featuring three strong women in completely different eras Yet with each story, the historical thread is tied to present day and its themes and struggles echo the current situations.Finders Keepers is all about adventure, treasure, and discovering a relationship with God I liked how it broaches faith and a relationship with the Heavenly Father as simple yet the most import The whole series is well told and expertly set up, with the stories of the Carrington brothers offset by historical stories featuring three strong women in completely different eras Yet with each story, the historical thread is tied to present day and its themes and struggles echo the current situations.Finders Keepers is all about adventure, treasure, and discovering a relationship with God I liked how it broaches faith and a relationship with the Heavenly Father as simple yet the most important life decision Trent s journey is all about realizing his searching to fill an emptiness is in vain, when the true source of peace to be found can only be satisfied by God Summer helps him see his need while she deals with longing for an earthly father, too It is beautiful how Summer risks her heart, having faith that Trent can beIsabella s historical story is intriguing and such a wonderful compliment While reading, I wondered how the two would be intertwined by story s end

Okay true confession time I was not enamoured with Trent at the beginning He is the exact opposite of everything I admire in a man Dare I say bordering on smarmy He s got all the lines, looks upon women as game pieces he can move around at will Seriously, he knows how to flirt and thinks a well directed wink will reap its own reward and often does Though raised in a Christian family his morals don t reflect that upbringing You might say he has a rebellious streak that has led Okay true confession time I was not enamoured with Trent at the beginning He is the exact opposite of everything I admire in a man Dare I say bordering on smarmy He s got all the lines, looks upon women as game pieces he can move around at will Seriously, he knows how to flirt and thinks a well directed wink will reap its own reward and often does Though raised in a Christian family his morals don t reflect that upbringing You might say he has a rebellious streak that has led him straight into the clutches of the world and he is unrepentant So, of course, when he sets his sight on a woman, she s bound to fall right into his lap Not No siree, Summer has learned from her mother s mistakes and she s determined not to repeat them She has Trent summed up pretty much the way I did at first meet Though she couldn t be completely indifferent since she has to share scene after scene with the Norse god lookalike I mean, having him right there in the flesh all charming and flirty can wear down a girl s resolve But, bless her heart, she gives him a run for his money and it serves him right Romantic tension runs high between this hero and heroine The physical attraction is definitely there and Trent isn t looking for anything deeper so when he begins to see Summer in a different light he panics Where do these tender feelings come from Why do his days feel empty when she s not around And the most alarming question of all when did he develop a conscience where women are concerned Emotions are turned inside out as Trent confronts his own short comings and finally makes peace with God Summer has her own faith journey to follow and it plays a significant role in finally breaking down Trent s resistance Watching these two battle their way to the Lord and each other in that order left me emotionally spent by the time I reached the end And, oh mercy, but I do love a story that leaves my romatical senses all discombobulated The bonus of this intricately woven story is the dual timeline the glimpse we get of life aboard the Spanish ship on it s route to the Americas I was on tenterhooks over Isabella s story Swashbuckling goodness with an unexpected end Lots of action and adventure I can t help but feel that Summer and Isabella would have been fast friends had they lived in the same century The kind of romance guaranteed to raise your blood pressure and leave you languishing on your fainting couch long after you ve read the last word
